Editorial policy and sources

The way that Blog Junkie selects articles to write about, the sources that are used and the process that is employed to put mistakes right is outlined on this page. The information is equally relevant whether the article in question is current or part of the Blog Junkie archive. Archive posts are being checked against the information on this page and if an article fails to live up to it then rather than leaving it as it is, we would like to hear about it.

How we choose topics

  • Topics are chosen for their usefulness to the readers Blog Junkie is written for, and to fit the subjects described on our About page.
  • We aim to publish one thorough article on a subject rather than several that cover the same ground. Where older posts overlapped, we have combined them into a single, fuller article and redirected the old addresses.
  • Articles answer the questions readers actually ask, and say plainly where something is uncertain.

Our sourcing standard

  • Claims about law, safety, health or money are linked to an authoritative source, such as gov.uk, legislation.gov.uk, the NHS or the relevant official body.
  • Statistics and research findings are linked to the original study or to the organisation that published them.
  • We do not invent quotes, testimonials, statistics or personal experiences.
  • Author profiles describe the topics each writer covers. We do not claim qualifications or experience that a writer does not have.
  • Photographs from stock libraries carry the photographer credit the licence requires.

Corrections and updates

  • We correct factual errors as soon as we can and update the article.
  • When official guidance changes, we update the articles that rely on it.
  • Older archive posts are being reviewed against this standard; until that is complete, some may not yet meet it.
